Q: How long have you been running?
A: Around two years. The first year just doing some run/walking on the treadmill when I started going to the gym. My addiction really started when I joined the club in April 2023.
Q: What made you start running?
I started running to lose weight, when I first started going to the gym I paired a little bit of treadmill work with strength training to lose weight and gain muscle at the same time (hopefully 😀).
Q: Biggest running achievement?
I think it has to be running my first marathon. The past year has been packed with great runs but to me this one stands out.
Q: Three things about me
Q: Favourite race
A: Again I think Manchester takes this one, the atmosphere was incredible, so much support.
Q: Running goal for 2024/25
I'd love to get a sub four hour marathon at York in October.
For 2025 I want to try and maintain the trajectory I have right now, continue to improve and give every race everything I have.
Q: Running tip
A: Learn to love the burn. Be it track sessions, hills or race day, remind yourself that the burn in your legs is just your body improving. There was a great quote at around the 3k mark at Endure "If it does't challenge you, it doesn't change you." Plus the more it hurts the sweeter that finish line becomes!
Q: Trainers?
A: I have a few now that I use for different things -
Asics Gel Nimbus 26 which I used for Manchester and now use for general running.
Nike Vaporfly Next%3 are my new fast shoes for track sessions and on race day.
Hoka Speedgoat which I use for trail running.
Q: Favourite food
A: Chicken and rice... If only 😂 Pizza. I love pizza.
Q: Three celebs I would invite to dinner
A: Brian Cox (the physicist not the actor)
Will Ferrel
Elon Musk
Q: Best thing about being a KUHAC runner?
A: How positive and supportive people are. They are just the best people I have met. I would not have done any of the things I've done over the past year if it wasn't for the support of the club. I owe it all to the KUHACs.
